As reported last month Daredevil is making it’s way to Netflix as an upcoming series. Now it has been confirmed that Cabin In The Woods director Drew Goddard will be the series runner for Daredevil. Goddard, who’s film credits include World War Z and Cloverfield and TV credits include Buffy, LOST and Alias, will also write and direct the pilot episode. This is what Goddard had to say previously on being linked to the Daredevil job:
“You’re talking to a guy who had quotes from Daredevil painted on his wall while growing up. Even when I was 18, I still had the blood red door with the, ‘I have shown him that a man without hope is a man without fear.’ That was what I loved and so it’s the sort of thing that if we can find the right project, I would love to do it.”
It’s interesting that Goddard has been attached to the project. Personally I enjoyed the hell out of Cabin In The Woods and wonder now that since he’s tied to the project, will Marvel let him gives us the dark and grittier version of Daredevil on the small screen that we might not have got to see on the big screen. Many will be hoping that it’s at least better than the film version with Ben Affleck in the title role back in 2003 (It’s been ten years already!).
The 13 episode series of Daredevil is expected to be on Netflix in 2014, no specific date has been announced yet.
