The Blacklist Gets Season 2 Renewal

NBC confirms The Blacklist will get a 2nd Season

NBC has confirmed that one of the biggest shows of the year and actually is the network’s most watched show in 19 years (Earth 2 back in 1994) has been giving a full 22 episode renewal for a second season. Pretty much this is a no brainer, especially considering the fact that it’s the networks most watched show in 19 years! It’s also not very often you see a show giving a full order of episodes in for another season, especially considering The Blacklist isn’t even halfway through it’s first season run. So NBC have great confidence in the story and the characters.

This is a statement released by NBC Entertainment chair Robert Greenblatt:

“The success of The Blacklist demonstrates that inspired storytelling is alive and well in broadcast television, and I’m impressed on a daily basis by this creative team’s imagination and the extent to which they will go to capture this grand vision on film. With gratitude to both our partners at Sony Pictures Television and our NBC development executives who took a great script and shepherded it into a great series, I hope that Red Reddington never runs out of names to bring down on his list!”

The Blacklist stars James Spader as Red Reddington, a criminal who works with the US government to track down and capture international criminals on what he calls his ‘Blacklist’,  but Red’s own motivations for doing so are a mystery.

I’m very pleased that not only has this show been picked up for a second season but it’s been giving a full order of episodes. The premise is interesting, James Spader just chews up the screen as Red and hopefully the premise and mystery of Red’s motives remain interesting to watch and don’t get boring anytime soon.  Promo for the show is here below (which is surprising that it covers the first episode and the shows premise. It didn’t intrigue me from watching this but glad I checked it out).
