Jake Gyllenhaal Allegedly Passes On Suicide Squad Role

Film News - Jake Gyllenhaal Alledgedly Passes On Suicide SquadAlot of people are running from the one report, from Variety, that Jake Gyllenhaal has allegedly passed on taking on the role of Rick Flag for DC’s Suicide Squad film, which had Tom Hardy attached to it until he departed last week due to scheduling conflicts.

In the report from Variety, it states that WB had no comment and that it was sources telling them that they had an offer to Gyllenhaal to play the leader of the squad but he’s declined.

Cue loads of people believing that Suicide Squad is in dire straits and DC have no idea what they are doing:

oh-noes-everybody-panic

The film still has Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne attached, with David Ayer as director and is set to be released in August 2016. The reason I wouldn’t panic over it yet is that production still doesn’t begin until April, so plenty of time to get a replacement to play Rick Flag, it’s just a shame that Hardy dropped out and if true that Gyllenhaal has been offered and declined, though he can easily get a better role in the comic film universe if he fancied it in the future. Time to throw a name into the hat for Rick Flag…Jon Bernthal. Guy’s ready to go.
