TV News - Supergirl - Laura Vandervoort Lands Recurring Role As IndigoIt looks like Supergirl is adding another Supergirl to the show as Laura Vandervoort has landed a recurring role on the show’s first season, playing a character known as Indigo.

The announcement of the casting was made during a Television Critics Association’s press tour’s set visit day on the Warner Bros. Studios lot, in which Supergirl is shot, according to the reports from The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.

Vandervoort will appear on the show in a recurring capacity as DC Comics character Indigo, who as the producers of Supergirl describe is a living, strong-willed supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, nothing will stand in Indigo’s way.

Vandervoort is no stranger to the Supergirl universe, having played the character of Kara/Supergirl on the long-running WB/CW superhero drama about Superman, Smallville. So we’ve got ourselves two former Supergirl’s (Vandervoort and Helen Slater) in the show in some capacity. Also announced in a recurring role is actor Jeff Branson, will will be playing Master Jailer, the forceful and unrelenting jail guard on Fort Rozz who shows no mercy. Now on Earth, he’s hellbent on catching all of the Fort Rozz escapees and brutally bringing them to justice. According to THR, Branson will appear on episode 14, while Vandervoort will appear in episode 15. It’s definitely an interesting development adding Vandervoort to the show and may bring in a few back-in-the-day Smallville viewers to check out the show.
