Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are reporting that Jamie Dornan is in final negotiations with Lionsgate to play Will Scarlett in Robin Hood: Origins.
This particular take on the British archer-thief who stole from the rich and gave to the poor will take us back to Sherwood Forest, following Hood return from the Crusades and forms a band of outlaws to fight corruption. Scarlett is the hot-headed wearer of fine clothes and the best swordsman of the bunch. Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst is attached to direct the film on a script penned by Joby Harold, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson serving as Producers under the Appian Way banner, with Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell also serving as Producers under the Safehouse Productions banner and Basil Iwanyk through Thunder Road Pictures.
Already cast in the film is Taron Egerton as Robin Hood, Eve Hewson as Maid Marian and Jamie Foxx as Little John. Production is scheduled to begin in Budapest on January.
Jamie Dornan has a few films coming out over the next couple of months, with Anthropoid already out in cinemas the last week, The Siege of Jadotville being released this week and The 9th Life of Louis Drax and Untogether just around the corner before the release of Fifty Shades of Grey sequel Fifty Shades Darker.
As of yet there is no cinematic release date set for Robin Hood: Origins.
