Media outlets are reporting that Vanessa Morgan, Malese Jow, Gentry White, Caroline Chikezie and Desmond Chiam are the new cast members for the second season of MTV’s The Shannara Chronicles.
The official synopsis for the show is as follows:
An Elvish tree, known as the Ellcrys, is dying. The bad news is that the tree has been the only piece of magic that protects the Four Lands from the Demon World. Amberle Elessedil is the only one who can save the tree. But she has to unlock magic that the Elves haven’t used in thousands of years. With the help of Wil Ohmsford, she travels to find the lost magic. But it won’t be an easy task.
The five cast members will be joining original cast members Austin Butler, Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett, Aaron Jakubenko and Marcus Vanco down in New Zealand for Season 2 which is already beginning production. Season 2 picks up a year later with The Four Lands in chaos. The re-emergence of magic has the populace terrified, and an organisation called The Crimson is hunting down magic users, using fear and intimidation to sow discord among the races.
Vanessa Morgan will be playing the role of Lyria, a beautiful and mysterious, young woman who is romantically linked to Eretria. Malese Jow will be playing the role of Mareth, a volatile and unpredictable young woman with magical abilities. Gentry White will be playing the role of Garet, a skilled, sly, and charismatic bounty hunter known throughout the Four Lands as ‘The Weapons Master.’ Caroline Chikezie will be playing the role of Queen Tamlin, the powerful and cunning Queen of Leah, the only human Kingdom in the Four Lands. Desmond Chiam will be playing the role of General Riga, a once revered General in the Eventine’s army, Riga is now the leader of an extremist group of Elvin soldiers known as The Crimson.
