Deadpool: Animated Series Coming To FXX

Marvel has revealed that FXX has given a series order for an adult animated comedy of Deadpool.

Since the character made his debut in the comics back in 1991, Deadpool has grown to become one of Marvel’s most popular characters, especially with last years big screen outing with Ryan Reynolds in the title role where the R-Rated superhero film made $782m worldwide on a $58m budget.

The series will have ten episodes in its first season. Donald Glover and Stephen Glover are on board to write, executive produce the series as well as serve as showrunners. Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory will serve as executive producers also in the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series.

Nick Grad, President of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions said:

Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta. With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.

Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb said:

How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth! We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.
