Venom: Scott Haze In Talks To Join Cast

The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Scott Haze is in negotiations with Sony to star in Spider-Man spinoff film Venom.

The Venom character is an alien symbiote that need a human host to survive. In return, the alien empowers its victim with incredible powers. At this moment it’s unclear as to which Venom incarnation Sony will be using for this standalone film as the character has had quite a few since being introduced in 1988, ranging from being originally a villain, then morphed into an anti-hero and (kind of) a good guy.

The report states that details of Scott Haze’s character is being kept under wraps. Haze credits include Midnight Special and Only The Brave. Ruben Fleischer is directing the project, with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner writing the script, with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach serving as producers alongside Amy Pascal. The studio have made it clear that Spider-Man will not be making an appearance in this particular film as well as the stand alone films they have planned, though they have left the door open for Venom to appear in other Spider-Man related films.

If Scott Haze joins the film, he’ll join a cast that includes Tom HardyRiz AhmedMichelle WilliamsJenny Slate and Reid Scott.

Venom is scheduled for cinematic release on the 5th October 2018.
