The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that 20th Century Fox has put into development a sequel to their big screen adaptation of Murder On The Orient Express.
The report states that the sequel is set to follow Agatha Christie’s novel Death On The Nile, where Hercule Poirot is on vacation in Egypt and becomes involved in two murder cases. Michael Green, who adapted the screenplay for Murder On The Orient Express, will be also adapting the screenplay here and, though not officially confirmed, it’s believed Kenneth Branagh is expected to reprise his role as Poirot as well as return to the director’s chair.
The film has made a good profit for 20th Century Fox, as it’s currently made over $198m worldwide on a $55m budget. Murder On The Orient Express has an all-star cast that includes Penélope Cruz, Judi Dench, Willem Dafoe, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Derek Jacobi, Leslie Odom Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley, Tom Bateman, Olivia Colman, Lucy Boynton, Marwan Kenzari, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Sergei Polunin and Miranda Raison.
