Media outlets are reporting that HBO has renewed dark comedy series Barry for a second season.
The series focuses on former marine Barry Berkman who is now a depressed, low-rent hitman in the Midwest. Lonely and dissatisfied with his life, he travels to Los Angeles for a hit job and manages to find himself drawn into an accepting community of acting students in the L.A theatre scene.
Executive vice president of HBO Programming, Amy Gravitt said:
While Barry has delighted audiences with its deft interplay of comedy and drama, Silicon Valley remains as brilliantly and frighteningly prescient as ever. We’re thrilled that these two smart, funny shows are returning for another season.
The series is created by Alec Berg and Bill Hader and is currently halfway through its eight-episode first season run on the HBO network. The duo also executive produce the series, while Aida Rogers and Emily Heller serve as producers and Liz Sarnoff is a consulting producer.
Barry stars Bill Hader, Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Glenn Fleshler, Anthony Carrigan and Henry Winkler.
