Sony Pictures have released the official trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff film Venom.

The official synopsis for the film is as follows:

One of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom.

The Venom character is an alien symbiote that need a human host to survive. Well that trailer was much better than the teaser, mainly because we finally get are first look of Tom Hardy as Venom. Hardy looks set to embrace the conflict of personalities between Eddie Brock and the symbiote, but other than that the rest of the films plot (other than Eddie being hunted down) seems to be getting kept close to the studios chest.

Ruben Fleischer is directing the film on a script that Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner wrote, with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach serving as producers alongside Amy Pascal. Venom stars  Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott, Scott Haze, Woody Harrelson and Sope Aluko.

Venom is scheduled for cinematic release on the 5th October 2018.
