Dora The Explorer: Isabela Moner Lands Title Role For Paramount Players Live-Action Feature

Deadline is reporting that Isabela Moner will star in the title role for Paramount Players live-action feature Dora The Explorer, based on the long-running Nickelodeon animated series.

Brian Robbins, President of Paramount Players released a statement saying:

We are thrilled to have found our Dora in Isabela. Dora has long been a celebrated, strong heroine in animated television, and like Dora, Isabela has an incredible spirit and is an advocate for positive values. With our partners at Nickelodeon, we look forward to continuing Dora’s story for generations to come.

Isabela Moner (whose credits include Transformers: The Last Knight and Sicario: Day of the Soldado) added in a statement:

I’m honored and excited to bring Dora to life.  I grew up watching the show, and for me, especially as a Latina, Dora was an amazing role model – she is a strong, adventurous and fun-loving girl. I can’t wait to put on the backpack and begin her next adventure!

Dora The Explorer is an eighteen-year-old animated series on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr., which focuses on Dora and Boots leading kids through a number of learning exercise-adventures and songs as well. The feature will follow Dora as a teenager accompanied by her best friend, the monkey Boots and her cousin Diego on an adventure. James Bobin is attached to direct, with Nick Stoller and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel penning the script.

Dora The Explorer is scheduled for cinematic release on the 2nd August 2019.
