Deadline is exclusively reporting that Andrea Riseborough and Christopher Abbott have been cast to star in Brandon Cronenberg’s thriller Possessor.
The film is set to focus on Tasya Vos, an agent for a secretive organisation who uses brain-implant technology to inhabit other people’s bodies, driving them to commit assassinations for the benefit of high-paying clients. But something goes wrong on a routine job and she finds herself trapped in the mind of an unwitting suspect whose appetite for violence turns out to rival her own.
Andrea Riseborough (whose credits include The Death of Stalin and Waco) will be playing Tasya Vos, while Christopher Abbott (whose credits include Sweet Virginia and It Comes At Night) will be playing the unwitting suspect.
Producer Niv Fichman, released a statement saying:
Andrea and Chris are among the most exciting and versatile actors working today and are perfectly suited to bring Brandon’s characters to life. We’re also thrilled to partner with Arclight and Leeding – they’re world class collaborators who are as passionate about Brandon’s unique vision as we are.
Brandon Cronenberg will be directing a film that he wrote, aiming to shoot in early 2019, while Arclight Films is launching the project at Cannes for international sales. Niv Fichman will be producing the project alongside Fraser Ash, Kevin Krikst of Rhombus Media and Andy Starke of Rook Films.
