The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Naomi Watts, Frank Grillo and Bobby Cannavale are set to star in coming of age, family drama Once Upon A Time In Staten Island.
Once Upon A Time In Staten Island is set in the summer of 1982 and has as its backdrop the release of Rocky III. The story focuses on an average teenager who embarks on a quest in his Rocky Balboa-obsessed town that swirls in his family members. The report from THR states that Watts and Grillo will be playing the parents of the teenager.
The report also states that the film will star Lucius Hoyos, Jonah Hauer-King, River Alexander and Chase Vacnin. The film comes from Blumhouse Productions and Man In A Tree Productions, with The Purge creator James DeMonaco writing the script as well as directing the project. Jason Blum will serve as producer on the project alongside Man In A Tree’s Sebastien K. Lemercier, while Naomi Watts will be executive producing alongside Kate Driver.
Once Upon A Time In Staten Island is set to commence production later this month.
