City Of Lies: Official Trailer Released Online

Global Road Entertainment has released the official trailer for Notorious B.I.G aka Biggie Smalls murder case feature City of Lies starring Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker.

The official synopsis for the film is as follows:

Based on the true story of one of the most notorious and unsolved cases in recent time, City Of Lies is a provocative thriller revealing a never-before-seen look at the infamous murder of The Notorious B.I.G. shortly following the death of Tupac. L.A.P.D. detective Russell Poole has spent years trying to solve his biggest case, but after two decades, the investigation remains open. “Jack” Jackson, a reporter desperate to save his reputation and career, is determined to find out why. In search of the truth, the two team up and unravel a growing web of institutional corruption and lies. Relentless in their hunt, these two determined men threaten to uncover the conspiracy and crack the foundation of the L.A.P.D. and an entire city.

Originally titled LAbyrinth, this feature film comes out recently after the USA network anthology series Unsolved, which the first season focused on the murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. While the series is decent so far (halfway through), I’m interested in how Depp and Whitaker will bounce off each other on screen, and the trailer makes it look like the film could be decent at least. Brad Furman has made two films that I thought were good solid pieces of work (The Lincoln Lawyer and The Infiltrator) and two I didn’t care for (The Take and Runner Runner), so City of Lies could go either way.

Also cast in City of Lies are Rockmond DunbarNeil Brown JrXander BerkeleyShea WhighamWynn EverettToby HussLouis HerthumShamier AndersonAmin JosephLaurence Mason and Joseph Ferrante.

City of Lies is scheduled for cinematic release on the 7th September 2018.
