Deadline is reporting that Madelyn Cline has joined the cast of coming-of-age family drama Once Upon A Time In Staten Island.
Once Upon A Time In Staten Island is set in the summer of 1982 and has as its backdrop the release of Rocky III. The story focuses on an average teenager who embarks on a quest in his Rocky Balboa-obsessed town that swirls in his family members. The report from THR states that Watts and Grillo will be playing the parents of the teenager.
Madelyn Cline (whose credits include Stranger Things and Vice Principals) will be playing the role of Sophia Larocca, an Italian-American princess. The film comes from Blumhouse Productions and Man In A Tree Productions, with The Purge creator James DeMonaco writing the script as well as directing the project. Jason Blum will serve as producer on the project alongside Man In A Tree’s Sebastien K. Lemercier, while Naomi Watts will be executive producing alongside Kate Driver.
