Variety is exclusively reporting that Amy Seimetz has signed up to star in Paramount Pictures new adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Pet Sematary.
Published in 1983, Pet Sematary focused on a doctor moving his family out of the big city to the country. There he discovers that they have moved near a pet cemetery that rests on an ancient burial ground. When his son is killed in an accident, he takes his body to the cemetery, where he is resurrected in demonic form.
Amy Seimetz (whose credits include Alien: Covenant and Stranger Things) will be playing the the mother of the child who gets caught up in the pet graveyard behind the house, the one where animals come back from the dead, in a creepier and meaner form.
The film is being co-directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Volsch. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian and Steven Schneider will serve as producers on the project. Amy Seimetz will be starring alongside Jason Clarke and John Lithgow.
