TVLine is reporting that Jesse Rath, who recurred during the third season of Supergirl, has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming fourth season of the DC drama series.
After Supergirl defeated Queen Rhea and her Daxamite army at the end of the second season, the third season focuses on Kara Danvers having to battle against Kryptonian worldkiller known as Reign, who was also transported to Earth just before Krypton’s destruction. Living out her life as Samantha Arias, she remained unaware of her origins until her powers started to manifest, then becoming Supergirl’s biggest adversary.
Executive Producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller released a statement saying:
We love the character of Brainiac-5 and can’t imagine anyone but Jesse Rath in the role. He brings such fun, heart and brilliance to Brainy and we’re so excited he’s joining the cast as a series regular for season 4. We have a lot of great Brainy stories to tell.
Jesse Rath (whose other credits include Defiance and No Tomorrow) plays Brainiac-5, aka Brainy. Half computer, half organic life and boasting a 12-level intellect, Brainiac 5 is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes who travels to National City from the 31st Century to help Supergirl and the DEO battle Reign.
