Bloodshot: Toby Kebbell Joins Cast

TheWrap is exclusively reporting that Toby Kebbell is the latest name to join the cast of sci-fi/action film Bloodshot, a feature adaptation of the Valiant comic book series.

Bloodshot, a central character in the Valiant Expanded Universe, focuses on Ray Garrison, brought back from the dead by Rising Spirit Technologies through the use of nanotechnology. Suffering total memory loss, Ray struggles to reconnect with who he was while learning what sort of weapon he has become, with the help of a group of other augmented combatants (called Chainsaw).

The report states that Toby Kebbell (whose recent credits include Kong: Skull Island and The Hurricane Heist) will be playing the role of the villain Axe.

The Bloodshot series ran for more than 110 issues, with more than 7.5m copies sold. The report states that sources indicate that the tone of the film is set to be similar to classic 1980’s tentpoles like Robocop, Terminator and Total Recall. The studio is set to be serious on the potential of the property, hoping to have a franchise on their hands and looking to begin principal photography in July.

Dave Wilson is attached to make his directorial feature debut, with Eric Heisserer writing the script. Neal H. Mortiz, longtime collaborator with Diesel on the Fast and Furious franchise, will be serving as a producer along with Toby Jaffe and Dinesh Shamdasani. Matthew Vaughn and Dan Mintz will be serving as executive producers.

Kebbell could be joining a cast that includes Vin DieselSam HeughanEiza GonzalezMichael Sheen, Talulah Riley and Alex Hernandez.
