Wu Assassins: Katheryn Winnick, Lewis Tan, Tommy Flanagan And Tzi Ma Join Cast For Netflix Martial Arts Drama

Deadline is reporting that Katheryn Winnick, Lewis Tan, Tommy Flanagan and Tzi Ma have signed up as series regulars opposite Iko Uwais and Byron Mann for Netflix martial arts drama Wu Assassins.

 

Wu Assassins is set in San Francisco’s Chinatown, set to have supernatural elements in a martial arts crime series setting. Iko Uwais (whose credits include The Raid: Redemption, The Raid 2 and Mile 22) will star as Kai Jin, a man who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin chosen to round up the powers of an ancient triad and restore balance once again. Byron Mann (whose credits include The Expanse and Altered Carbon) will star as Uncle Six.

 

Katheryn Winnick (whose credits include Vikings and The Dark Tower) will be playing the role of Christine ‘C. G.’ Gavin, an undercover cop caught in the middle of a gang war that’s breaking out in Chinatown. Lewis Tan (whose credits include Deadpool 2 and Into The Badlands) will be playing the role of Lu Xin Lee, a suave, fierce intelligent leader who owns and operates his own custom garage a la West Coast Customs and runs a car theft ring for the Triad. Tommy Flanagan (whose credits include Sons of Anarchy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) will be playing the role of Alec McCullough, an international crime boss with a mysterious interest in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Tzi Ma (whose credits include 24 and Arrival) will be playing the role of Mr. Young, a kindly Chinatown grocer and a mentor to Kai.

 

The series is being written by John Wirth (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Falling Skies) and were serve as showrunner.  The project also hails from Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures and Nomadic Pictures. Stephen Fung (Jump and Into The Badlands) will direct the first two episodes, with Tony Krantz helming the rest. Iko Uwais will also serve as producer, lead martial arts/fight choreographer and stunt coordinator on the series. Krantz will serve as executive producer alongside Nomadic Pictures’ Oakes and Frislev.
