It was announced today at the Supergirl panel at San Diego Comic Con that Nicole Maines, April Parker Jones and David Ajala will be joining the cast for the upcoming fourth season.
After Supergirl defeated Queen Rhea and her Daxamite army at the end of the second season, the third season focuses on Kara Danvers having to battle against Kryptonian worldkiller known as Reign, who was also transported to Earth just before Krypton’s destruction. Living out her life as Samantha Arias, she remained unaware of her origins until her powers started to manifest, then becoming Supergirl’s biggest adversary.
Nicole Maines (whose credits include Royal Pains and Bit) will be playing the role of Nia Nal, the newest addition to the CatCo reporting team. A soulful young transgender woman with a fierce drive to protect others, Nia’s journey this season means fulfilling her destiny as the superhero Dreamer. April Parker Jones (whose credits include If Loving You Is Wrong and The Last Ship) will be playing the role of Colonel Haley, a hardline career military woman who lives and dies by the orders of her commanding officers. Dedicated to her country, she always acts in its best interest — even if it’s not her own. David Ajala (whose credits include Starred up and Falling Water) will be playing the role of Manchester Black, who is the type of guy who brings a knife to a gunfight and still walks away the winner. With a dark past, he easily deflects the brutality of his mission with his charm and sense of humor.
