The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Jason Scott Lee is the latest name to join the cast of Disney’s live-action adaptation of Mulan.
Disney’s retelling of an old Chinese folktale focusing on a young Chinese maiden who learns that her weak father is called up into the army in order to fight the invading Huns. Knowing that he’ll not survive war in his condition, she decides to disguise herself as a man and take his place.
Jason Scott Lee (whose credits include The Jungle Book ’94 and Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story) will be playing the role of Bori Khan, a warrior leader who is intent on avenging his father’s death. Niki Caro has been attached to direct the project since February of last year, with Chris Bender, Jason Reed and Jake Weiner serving as producers. The duo could join already cast Liu Yifei, Donnie Yen and Gong Li, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Ron Yuan and Yoson An, with Jet Li in allegedly in talks.
Mulan is scheduled for cinematic release on the 27th March 2020.
