Deadline is reporting that JuJu Chan and Mark Dacascos are the latest names to join the cast of Netflix’s martial arts drama series Wu Assassins.
Wu Assassins is set in San Francisco’s Chinatown, set to have supernatural elements in a martial arts crime series setting. Iko Uwais will star as Kai Jin, a man who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin chosen to round up the powers of an ancient triad and restore balance once again. Byron Mann will star as Uncle Six.
JuJu Chan (whose credits include Lumina and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny) will be playing the role of Zan, a lieutenant in the Triads and elite martial artist, Zan is the bodyguard and sole confidant to Uncle Six. Mark Dacascos (whose credits include Beyond The Game and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) will be playing the role of an extremely fit and strong monk who can take down any evil force that comes his way.
The series is being written by John Wirth (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Falling Skies) and were serve as showrunner. The project also hails from Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures and Nomadic Pictures. Stephen Fung (Jump and Into The Badlands) will direct the first two episodes, with Tony Krantz helming the rest. Iko Uwais will also serve as producer, lead martial arts/fight choreographer and stunt coordinator on the series. Krantz will serve as executive producer alongside Nomadic Pictures’ Oakes and Frislev.
