Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. TV and executive producer Chuck Lorre have announced that CBS’s top-rated comedy series The Big Bang Theory will be ending its run with the upcoming twelfth season.
In a joint statement from CBS, WBTV and Lorre, they said:
We are forever grateful to our fans for their support ofThe Big Bang Theory during the past twelve seasons. We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close.
The series debut way back in 2007 and since then has earned fifty-two Emmy nominations so far, winning ten of those, whilst also earning seven Golden Globe nominations to date.
The final season will begin airing on CBS this September and the series finale will air in May 2019.
The Big Bang Theory stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch, Mayim Bialik, Kevin Sussman and Laura Spencer.
