The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
22 July tells the true story of the aftermath of Norway’s deadliest terrorist attack. On 22 July 2011, 77 people were killed when a far-right extremist detonated a car bomb in Oslo before carrying out a mass shooting at a leadership camp for teens. 22 Julyuses the lens of one survivor’s physical and emotional journey to portray the country’s path to healing and reconciliation.
He may be more well known decades down the line for directing the Bourne sequels, but Greengrass really shines when it comes to directing tragic dramas based on true stories (Bloody Sunday and United 93) and 22 July looks set to be just as hard hitting as both of them.
The film stars Anders Danielsen Lie, Jon Øigarden, Thorbjørn Harr, Jonas Strand Gravli, Ola G. Furuseth, Ulrikke Hansen Døvigen, Isak Bakli Aglen, Maria Bock, Tone Danielsen, Sonja Sofie Sinding, Turid Gunnes, Kenan Ibrahamefendic, Monica Borg Fure, Ingrid Enger Damon, Seda Witt, Anja Maria Svenkerud and Hasse Lindmo.
