The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Anna Kendrick is set to star in XYZ Films sci-fi thriller Stowaway.
The logline states that the film follows the crew of a spaceship heading to Mars that discovers an accidental stowaway shortly after takeoff. Too far from Earth to turn back and with resources quickly dwindling, the ship’s medical researcher emerges as the only dissenting voice against the group consensus that has already decided in favour of a grim outcome.
Anna Kendrick (whose recent credits include Pitch Perfect 3 and A Simple Favor) will be playing the role of the ship’s medical researcher.
The project is created by Joe Penna and Ryan Morrison, with the duo previously directing survival thriller Arctic starring Mads Mikkelsen. Penna who helm the film here. XYZ and CAA Media Finance will introduce the project at this week’s AFM.
I’ll admit from the logline alone, the film does intrigue me due to the moral ambiguity of it, so it’ll be interesting to see how the project comes to fruition.
XYZ will produce the project alongside RISE Pictures and augenschein Filmproduktion.
