The Resident: Miles Gaston Villanueva Lands Recurring Role For Season 2

Deadline is reporting that Miles Gaston Villanueva has signed up for a recurring role for  the second season of medical drama series The Resident.

The synopsis for the first season is as follows:

The Resident centres on an idealistic young doctor who begins his first day under the supervision of a tough, brilliant senior resident who pulls the curtain back on all of the good and evil in modern day medicine. Lives may be saved or lost, but expectations will always be shattered.

Miles Gaston Villanueva (whose credits include The Young and The Restless and Law & Order True Crime) will be playing the role of Alec, a born innovator, a loner and iconoclast who has spent a lifetime on the move. His father was an eccentric and Alec lived part of his childhood in a converted school bus. He studied to be an infectious disease doctor, but after a stint volunteering with Partners in Health on a Navajo reservation, he embraced a vision of medicine that tries to alter lifestyle via community outreach to prevent, rather than treat, illness. Alec is tender with patients but blunt with everyone else. And yet he is a charmer. His relationships with women tended in the past to lack deep roots. Whenever it was necessary, he moved on.

The Resident also stars Matt Czuchry, Bruce Greenwood, Manish Dayal, Emily VanCamp, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Malcolm-Jamal WarnerGlenn MorshowerJane Leaves and Jenna Dewan.
