Variety is exclusively reporting that It and It: Chapter Two director Andy Muschietti is set to helm the Warner Bros. film adaptation of the popular Japanese manga series Attack On Titan.
The manga, written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, focuses on humans living behind a wall through generations to keep themselves safe from alien Titans. However, curious as to what is beyond the wall, they form a scouting mission. It is not long before they find themselves battling the Titans as they try to save humanity once again. The manga has spawned out into different forms of media, from an animated series, to video games, to the Japanese live-action film that came out in two parts.
Warner Bros were chasing the rights for the property back in January 2017 and now have officially finalised a deal with Kodansha, making this is the biggest news yet in terms of the project moving forward now, including attaching a director at the helm.
Andy’s sister Barbara Muschietti will serve as producer on the project alongside David Heyman and Masi Oka.
