Variety is exclusively reporting that 47 Meters Down director Johannes Roberts has been attached by Constantin Film to write and direct the reboot of the Resident Evil franchise.
The film franchise, based on the video game franchise of the same name, followed Alice (Milla Jovovich), as she fights not only the zombies terrorising Raccoon City after an experiment gone wrong, but the evil Umbrella Corp., which is the cause of the disastrous state.
The first film was released in 2002 and spawned five further instalments, with the last one released in 2016, with the franchise overall earning $1.2bn worldwide. The reboot has been a high priority for Constantin since they announced the reboot back in the middle of 2017.
The reboot is set to commence production sometime in 2019.
