Collider is exclusively reporting that Zendaya is in talks with Legendary to join the cast of Legendary’s reboot of Dune, which is being directed by Denis Villeneuve.
Dune is set in the distant future and follows Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, jurisdiction over Arrakis is contested among competing noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship with nature, as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s reign.
Zendaya (whose credits include The Greatest Showman and Spider-Man: Far From Home) if she signs will be playing the role of Chani, the love interest of Paul Atreides.
Denis Villeneuve is also co-writing the script with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts. Villeneuve will also serve as producer on the project alongside Mary Parent and Cale Boyter, while Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Thomas Tull and Kim Herbert will serve as executive producers.
