Media outlets are reporting that Warner Bros. has scheduled Legendary’s upcoming Dune reboot from Denis Villeneuve for a cinematic release on the 20th November 2020.
Dune is set in the distant future and follows Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, jurisdiction over Arrakis is contested among competing noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship with nature, as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s reign.
Denis Villeneuve is also co-writing the script with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts. Villeneuve will also serve as producer on the project alongside Mary Parent and Cale Boyter, while Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Thomas Tull and Kim Herbert will serve as executive producers.
Dune stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin and Jason Momoa.
