Deadline is exclusively reporting that Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield are in negotiations to star in the Warner Bros. biopic about iconic Black Panther Party member Fred Hampton titled Jesus Was My Homeboy.

Jesus Was My Homeboy is set to follow the rise and untimely demise of Hampton as seen through the eyes of William O’Neal. It will explore how the FBI infiltrated the Black Panthers, the psychology of their informant and the notorious assassination of the young political leader who died at the age of twenty-one.

Daniel Kaluuya (whose credits include Get Out and Widows) is in talks to play the role of activist Eric Hampton, whilst Lakeith Stanfield (whose credits include Atlanta and Sorry To Bother You) is in talks to play William O’Neal, the man who betrayed Hampton to the FBI.

The film is being co-financed by Warner Bros. and MACRO, with Ryan Coogler and Charles D. King serving as producers. Shaka King will be directing the project, with the script written by Will Berson. Sev Ohanian, Zinzi Coogler and MACRO’s Kim Roth and Poppy Hanks all serve as executive producers.
