Deadline is reporting that Michael O’Neill, Steven Silver, Emjay Anthony and Thalia Tran are the latest names to join the cast of NBC’s drama pilot Council of Dads, inspired by Bruce Feiler’s novel of the same name.
Council of Dads tells the story of Scott Perry and his family, whose lives are thrown into upheaval when he gets a potentially terminal diagnosis. Facing his morality, he and his wife Robin, assemble a unique group (council) of carefully chosen friends to support his family and guide them through the ups and downs of life’s many challenges.
Michael O’Neill (whose credits include 24 and Rectify) will be playing the role of Larry Malvern, a calming presence who is used to being in charge.
Steven Silver (whose credits include 13 Reasons Why and All The Little Things We Kill) will be playing the role of Evan, a smart, caring young man with a great sense of humour who has been taking care of his sick mother.
Emjay Anthony (whose credits include Chef and The Jungle Book) will be playing the role of Theo Perry, Scott’s son who thinks the world is against him and that he can’t do anything.
Thalia Tran (whose credits include Hotel Du Loone and Little) will be playing the role of Charlotte Perry, Robin and Scott’s daughter.
The project hails from Doubt creators Joan Rater and Tony Phelan, Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Universal TV, with Rater and Phelan writing the script for the pilot. Rater and Phelan will executive produce the project under their Midwest Livestock Productions banner, alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed of Jerry Bruckheimer TV. Feiler and JBTV’s James Oh will serve as producers.
