Deadline is exclusively reporting that Alexandra Ships is the latest name to join the cast of action-comedy Kung Fury, a feature based on the 2015 cult short film.
Set in Miami in 1985, the city is being kept safe by Kung Fury aka the greatest damn cop of all time. The Thundercops are the ultimate police force assembled from across history to defeat the villainous Kung Fuhrer aka Adolf Hitler. After the tragic death of a Thundercop causes the group to disband, a mysterious villain emerges from the shadows to aid in the Fuhrer’s quest to attain the ultimate weapon. Kung Fury must travel through time and space itself to save his friends, defend the Miami Kung Fu Academy and defeat evil once and for all.
Alexandra Shipp (whose credits include Love, Simon and X-Men: Dark Phoenix) will be playing the role of Rey Porter, a news anchor who will do anything to get the best story. Shipp will be replacing Eiza Gonzalez and join a cast that includes Michael Fassbender, Arnold Schwarzenegger, David Hasselhoff and David Sandberg.
