The series, created by Brian Yorkey and based on the young adult novel by Jay Asher, tells the story of a young girl named Hannah Baker tragically committing suicide, devastating her classmate Clay Jensen, who had a crush on her. A few weeks after her death he returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it, containing cassette tapes recorded by Hannah, detailing the thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life.
The synopsis for the third season is as follows:
Eight months after preventing Tyler from committing an unthinkable act at Spring Fling, Clay, Tony, Jessica, Alex, Justin, and Zach find ways to shoulder the burden of the cover-up together while helping Tyler move toward recovery. But when the aftermath of a tumultuous Homecoming game culminates in the disappearance of a football player, and Clay finds himself under police scrutiny, it’s up to a shrewd outsider to steer the group through an investigation that threatens to lay bare everyone’s deepest secrets. The stakes are raised in this riveting third season of 13 Reasons Why, as the consequences of even the most well-intended actions can alter a life forever.
As reported exclusively by DiscussingFilm last month, the other main media outlets are now confirming today that the series has been renewed for a fourth season and is already in production, focusing on the core cast’s graduation from Liberty High, thus meaning that the fourth season will serve as the final for the series.
The upcoming third season stars Dylan Minnette, Christian Navarro, Alisha Boe, Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, Miles Heizer, Ross Butler, Devin Druid, Michele Selene Ang, Timothy Granaderos, Amy Hargreaves and Brenda Strong.
13 Reasons Why season 3 will become available on the streaming service from the 23rd August 2019.
