Variety is exclusively reporting that Amazon and Paramount Television are developing a series adaptation of Paul W. S. Anderson’s 1997 sci-fi horror film Event Horizon.
The film’s title was in reference to a spaceship that disappeared after testing an experimental gravity drive capable of creating an artificial black hole that was meant to allow the ship to travel to distant points in the galaxy. A rescue vessel known as Lewis And Clark and its crew, along with the gravity drive’s inventor, are sent to investigate after the ship mysteriously reappears, only to discover that the ship travelled to a hell dimension outside of the known universe that infects it with a sinister sentience.
The film starred Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Joely Richardson, Kathleen Quinlan, Richard T. Jones, Jason Isaacs and Sean Pertwee.
The television project is set to be handled by Adam Wingard, who will direct the potential series as well as executive produce alongside Larry Gordon, Lloyd Levin and Jeremy Platt. Gordin and Levin are the original producers behind the film version.
