At the D23 Expo, the Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy made it official to Star Wars fans that an Obi-Wan series is coming to Disney+ and Ewan McGregor came out on stage to confirm that he’ll be reprising the role he played in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.
Some reports are stating that according to a flow chart displayed at D23, the Obi-Wan series will be set late during the Age of Republic between the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope…basically around the same time that Solo: A Star Wars Story took place.
Some are reporting (like TVLine) that the episodes for the series is believed to be released on a weekly basis, rather than the binge model of all available at once. Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that all the scripts have been writing and that they plan to commence shooting the series sometime in 2020.
Rumours of Ewan McGregor reprising the role either on the big screen or small screen has circulated the web for quite some time and now that it is finally official, the news is definitely met with positivity online.
