The Stand: Whoopi Goldberg, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Brad William Henke And Daniel Sunjata Join Cast For Limited Series At CBS All Access


Deadline is reporting that Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Brad William Henke and Daniel Sunjata, as well as confirming Whoopi Goldberg, are the latest names to join the cast of the CBS All Access limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand.

 

The Stand is an apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by a plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the one-hundred-and-eight-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors, including Stuart Redman and their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers….the Dark man aka Randall Flagg.

 

Whoopi Goldberg (whose credits include Ghost and Sister Act) will be playing the role of  Mother Abagail, a prophet who receives visions from God and guides survivors of the superflu.

 

Jovan Adepo (whose credits include When They See Us and Fences) will be playing the role of Larry Underwood, a young musician with a taste for fame, as well as illegal substances. When the plague hits, he is forced to confront his demons as he makes his way to the new world.

 

Owen Teague (whose credits include It and Mrs. Fletcher) will be playing the role of Harold Lauder. After the superflu ravages his town, Harold goes in search of others with fellow survivor Frannie Goldsmith. While his intentions are good, jealousy and his infatuation with Frannie threaten to lead him down a dark path.

 

Brad William Henke (whose credits include Orange Is The New Black and Sneaky Pete) will be playing the role of Tom Cullen, Nick Andros’ traveling companion who is developmentally disabled due to a terrible fall as a child. A sweet soul, he will be instrumental in their fight for survival.

 

Daniel Sunjata (whose credits include Rescue Me and Graceland) will be playing the role of Cobb, a member of the military tasked with supervising Stu Redman as the government searches for a cure during the outbreak of the superflu.

 

The new additions will join a cast that includes James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young and Henry Zaga.

 

The series will be written by Josh Boone and Ben Cavell, with the duo also serving as executive producers alongside Roy Lee, Jimmy Miller, Richard P. Rubinstein. Will Weiske and Miri Yoon will serve as co-producers whilst Knate lee, Jill Killington and Owen King will serve as producers. Stephen King will also writer the last chapter of the series, providing a different ending to the novel.
