Variety is reporting that Samara Weaving is the latest name to join the cast of Paramount’s G.I Joe spinoff Snake Eyes.
Snake Eyes is a silent ninja commando who dresses all in back, never reveals his face and doesn’t speak. He stands out among the military anti-terrorist group and quickly establishes himself as the most popular character. He has a special relationship with Scarlett, the team’s only female member and sometimes carries out solo missions with his pet wolf Timber. His nemesis is Storm Shadow, a ninja who is also his blood brother.
Samara Weaving (whose credits include Ready Or Not and The Babysitter) will be playing the role of Scarlett, the traditionally red-haired counter-intelligence officer who was the first female figure of the revamped G.I Joe toyline in the 1980s. The character had a unique bond with Snake Eyes and frequently partnered with him.
In the same report, it was stated that Takehiro Hira was also added to the cast but his role is being kept under wraps.
Robert Schwentke is directing the film, with the script written by Evan Spiliotopoulos and Brian Goldner serving as producer.
