The Batman: Paul Dano Joins Cast As The Riddler

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Paul Dano is the latest name to join the cast of Matt Reeves’ upcoming feature The Batman.

Matt Reeves was brought on board the project back in February 2017, taking over the reigns of directing the film that Ben Affleck was originally set to direct based on a script he wrote with Geoff Johns. Since then, Reeves has been adapting the script for The Batman along with Ben Affleck, upon which Affleck revealed in January that he wouldn’t be reprising the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman for Reeves’ version.

Paul Dano (whose recent credits include Okja and Escape at Dannemora) will be playing the role of Edward Nashton, the man who in the comics later goes by the name of Edward Nygma, also known by the villainous persona of The Riddler. The news comes a few hours after its been reported that Jonah Hill declined to sign on to the project after being in talks the last few weeks.

The film is co-written by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin. Paul Dano joins a cast that includes Robert PattinsonJeffrey Wright and Zoe Kravitz.

The Batman is scheduled for cinematic release on the 25th June 2021.
