Deadline is exclusively that Olivia DeJonge has been cast in the role of Priscilla Presley in the untitled drama biopic about Elvis Presley from Baz Luhrmann at Warner Bros.
The upcoming biopic is being described as focusing on Presley’s rise and zenith, with a major aspect being his relationship with Colonel Tom Parker, who will be played by Tom Hanks. Austin Butler will be playing the role of Elvis.
Baz Luhrmann released a statement on DeJonge’s casting, saying:
Olivia is capable of manifesting the complex depth and presence that has made Priscilla Presley an icon in her own right. She’s an extremely talented young actor and the perfect counterpoint to Austin’s Elvis.
Olivia DeJonge (whose credits include The Society and The Visit) will be playing the role of Priscilla Ann Presley, who was married to Elvis from 1967 to 1973 and in that time was the chairwoman of Elvis Presley Enterprises, the company that turned his mansion, Graceland, into one of the top tourist attractions in America.
Baz Lhurmann will be directing the film from the screenplay he co-wrote with Craig Pearce. He’ll also produce the project alongside Catherine Martin, Gail Berman, Patrick McCormick and Schuyler Weiss. Andrew Mittman will serve as executive producer.
Shooting for the project will commence early next year in Queensland, Australia.
