Paramount Pictures have released the latest trailer for the film adaptation of the classic video game series Sonic The Hedgehog.
The video game series was launched by Sega back in 1991 and to date has sold more than 360m copies worldwide, from packaged to digital games on consoles, tablets and mobile. The games focus on Sonic on a quest to defeat Doctor Robotnik, a scientist who has imprisoned animals in robots and stolen magical Chaos Emeralds.
The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
Sonic The Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centres on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski. Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination.
The re-design of Sonic is much more in line with the games and looks way better than it did in the first trailer back in April. Jeff Fowler makes his directorial feature debut here, helming the film based on a script written by Patrick Casey and Josh Miller. The film stars Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Jim Carrey, Adam Pally, Lee Majdoub, Frank C. Turner, Natasha Rothwell, Debs Howard and Elfina Luk and Neal McDonough.
Sonic The Hedgehog is scheduled for cinematic release on the 14th February 2020.
