Media outlets are reporting that CBS All Access have renewed sci-fi series Star Trek: Picard for a second season, over a month before its first season debut.

The series is described as a follow-up to Star Trek: The Next Generation, focusing on the next chapter of the life of Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

The renewal reports come in light of the news today that the series has been allocated over $20.4m in California tax incentives.

The series stars Patrick Stewart, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, Isa Briones, Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan, Jonathan Del Arco, Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis.

Star Trek: Picard premieres on CBS All Access on the 23rd January 2020 and on Amazon Prime in the UK/Ireland on the 24th January 2020.
