Variety is exclusively reporting that Morfydd Clark is the latest name to join the cast of Amazon’s upcoming epic fantasy series adaptation of The Lord Of The Rings.
The synopsis for the upcoming series, tweeted by the official twitter page for the series (along with a map) is as follows:
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them, In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie. Welcome to the Second Age.
In the Tolkien mythology, the Second Age was the time in which the Rings of Power, including Sauron’s One Ring, came into existence.
The report states that Morfydd Clark (whose credits include His Dark Materials and Saint Maud) will be playing the role of Galadriel, a character portrayed by Cate Blanchett in The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films.
Clark joins a cast that includes Markella Kavenagh, Maxim Baldry, Joseph Mawle and Ema Horvath.
The Lord of the Rings series is being developed by J.D Payne and Patrick McKay, with Bryan Cogman serving as consultant on the project and J.A Bayona attached to direct multiple episodes.
