The Flash finds himself in a war torn alternate timeline and teams up with alternate versions of his fellow heroes to return home and restore the timeline.

After foiling an attempt bu his Rogues gallery, led by his archenemy Professor Zoom, to defeat him, Barry Allen wakes up the next morning to discover that his powers are gone and that the world has radically changed, as Aquaman and the Atlantean’s are at war with Wonder Woman and the Amazonian’s, destroying everything in their path. It’s a race against time for Barry to regain his powers and restore the timeline before Aquaman and Wonder Woman’s war destroys the entire world.

Granted, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox didn’t exactly have a cinematic release, but considering the day and age of streaming services flushing the cash on original films of their own, I’ve decided to let this slide in…since it’s my own list. Now alot of films have come out under the DC Animated Universe umbrella this decade, but for me it peaked in 2013 with this. The voice cast ensemble are great here, particularly C. Thomas Howell providing sinister menace as Eobard Thawne, Kevin McKidd with an interesting interpretation of Batman and of course Justin Chambers as Barry Allen. Frederik Wiedmann’s score is also really good, inspiring in the right moments and epic in the films climatic finale. Considering that its an hour and fifteen minutes long, Flashpoint Paradox brings alot of characters into the fold, some offering new takes and yet it still builds the character journey for Barry Allen to keep it flowing. Jay Oliva has directed multiple DC animated films since Flashpoint Paradox, but for me this is my personal favourite.

FAVOURITE SCENE: While we learn who the Batman is in the alternate timeline, it takes a while for the reveal of the Joker…and I got a kick out of it when it was revealed.

FAVOURITE QUOTE: “Her hero, how noble. Oh, wait! You didn’t stop JFK from getting assassinated or make sure Hitler stayed in art school. You saved your mommy. You missed her. And in a supreme act of selfishness shattered history like a rank amateur, turned the world into a living hell moments away from destruction and I’m the villain?” – Professor Zoom

DID YOU KNOW: The voice of Superman is played by Sam Daly. Sam’s father, Tim Daly, previously voiced the role of Superman in the animated TV series and various DC animated movies.
