The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Rodo Sayagues, who co-wrote the original 2016 film with Fede Alvarez, has signed up to make his directorial debut with the sequel to Don’t Breathe.
The original film focused on a group of thieves breaking into the house of a blind Army veteran living in an abandoned neighbourhood, only to realise that the blind man is not as helpless as he seems.
The original film was a box office hit, earning over $157m worldwide on its $10m budget.
The sequel, which will see Stephen Lang reprise his role as The Blind Man, is reported to be set several years after the original film, with the Blind Man living in quiet solace…until his past sins catch up to him.
Sayagues wrote the script with Fede Alvarez, who will also serve as producer alongside Sami Raimi and Rob Tapert under their Ghost House Pictures banner, and Good Universe.
Don’t Breathe 2 is scheduled to commence production in April.
