Variety is exclusively reporting that Sam Raimi is in negotiations with Marvel Studios to direct the Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.
The original film, released in 2016, had us follow talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put aside his ego and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions.
Scott Derrickson, who was attached to direct the sequel having directed the original, had departed the project last month due to creative differences. Derrickson will however remain onboard the produce as an executive producer.
Benedict Cumberbatch will be returning to reprise the role of Stephen Strange, though it hasn’t been confirmed officially, it’s believed that Rachel McAdams as Christine, Benedict Wong as Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, will be appearing in the sequel. Also appearing in the sequel will be Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch.
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is scheduled for cinematic release on the 7th May 2021.
