Deadline is exclusively reporting that Freddy Miyares is the latest name to join the cast of HBO Max drama pilot DMZ.
DMZ takes place in the near future where America is embroiled in a Civil War, leaving Manhattan a demilitarised zone (hence DMZ), destroyed and isolated from the rest of the world.
The report states that Freddy Miyares (whose credits include When They See Us and The L Word: Generation Q) will be playing the role of Skel, the ruthless triggerman of one of the DMZ’s most powerful gangs, led by Parco Delgado. He is also a talented graffiti artist with a profound passion for art, which serves as his lasting connection to his humanity in a world where survival is predicated on power.
Miyares will star alongside Rosario Dawson and Benjamin Bratt.
The DMZ comic series was first published in late 2005 and reached its conclusion in early 2012, running for seventy-two issues. Ava DuVernay’s Array Filmworks will be producing the potential series in association with Warner Bros. Television, while Roberto Patino is attached to be showrunner as well as serve as executive producer. Ava DuVernay will be directing the pilot.
