Variety is exclusively reporting that after a lengthy development process, Steven Spielberg looks set to hand over the directing reins on Indiana Jones 5 to another director for the first time in the franchise’s history, with sources stating that James Mangold is in negotiations to take the job.
The report states that Spielberg will remain hands-on in a producing capacity on the project and, according to a source, the decision to leave the director’s chair was entirely Spielberg’s, in a desire to pass along Indy to a new generation to bring their perspective to the story. The report does state that Harrison Ford is still attached to the project.
I for one am keenly interested in what a James Mangold-directed-Indiana Jones film would look like on the big screen.
