Deadline is reporting that James Purefoy, Edward Hogg, Jessye Romeo have signed up to star in the upcoming second season of Epix drama series Pennyworth, while Ramon Tikaram and Harriet Slater, who recurred in the first season, have been promoted to series regulars.
The series revolves around Alfred Pennyworth, exploring Alfred’s origins as a former British SAS Soldier who forms a secret company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne, who has not yet become Bruce’s father, in 1960’s London.
James Purefoy (whose credits include Altered Carbon and Sex Education) will be playing the role of Captain Gulliver Troy. Alfie’s former SAS Captain, Gulliver Troy is a charismatic, cultured brute and a powerful man of appetites – whether that be drink, women or danger.
Edward Hogg (whose credits include Taboo and Harlots) will be playing the role of Colonel Salt. A would-be despot masquerading as an obedient civil servant, Salt is a calculating killer, whether by pen or sword.
Jessye Romeo (whose credits include Curfew and Stan Lee’s Lucky Man) will be playing the role of Katie Browning. An idealistic art student whose life is uprooted by civil war, Katie is righteous, defiant and wonderfully naive.
Ramon Tikaram (whose credits include The Victim and Brassic) will be playing the role of Inspector Victor Aziz. Season one’s charming, sardonic Inspector Aziz returns, keeping his clear head and dry wit even as London descends into chaos.
Harriet Slater (whose credits include Stretching The Play and Faunutland and the Lost Magic) will be playing the role of Sandra Onslow. Budding 60s starlet, Alfie’s on-again-off-again girlfriend, Sandra, is now resident singer in his club, with dreams of becoming the next Sandie Shaw.
